The Oku Memorial Trophy was contested for the sixth time on Saturday 4th December 2010. For the first time it was staged at Oxford University RFC’s ground at Iffley Road, Oxford.

In addition to the Kew Occasionals RFC, a London based team featuring many former Oxford players, and London Japanese RFC, this year Ambassador Oku’s alma mater Hertford College and Vincent’s Club, the prestigious university sportsman’s club of which he was the first Japanese member, also fielded invitation XV’s.
View our photos from the dayAll teams should be congratulated for agreeing to play in the ice and snow and after four hard fought games, Vincent’s Club’s captain Peter Wright’s try was enough to secure victory over Hertford College in the fading light. Over 90 players and supporters celebrated afterwards in the Iffley Road pavilion and Vincent’s Club.
View Taropon's photos of the dayThe Oku Trophy was presented to the winning captain by Oku’s close friend and fellow founder of London Japanese RFC, Noboru Watanabe. London Japanese captain Rob Galbraith was voted player of the tournament for his four tries, including a hat-trick in the opening game. All teams are extremely grateful to Oxford University RFC for hosting the event.
